چکیده

The free energy between a static quark and an antiquark is studied by using the color-singlet Polyakov-line correlation at finite temperature in lattice QCD with 2+1 flavors of improved Wilson quarks. From the simulations on 323 × 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 lattices in the high temperature phase, based on the fixed scale approach, we find that, the heavy-quark free energies at short distance converge to the heavy-quark potential evaluated from the Wilson loop at zero temperature, in accordance with the expected insensitivity of short distance physics to the temperature. At long distance, the heavy-quark free energies approach to twice the single-quark free energies, implying that the interaction between heavy quarks is screened. The Debye screening mass obtained from the long range behavior of the free energy is compared with the results of thermal perturbation theory.

Static quark free energies at finite temperature with two flavors of improved Wilson quarks

Polyakov loop correlations at finite temperature in two-flavor QCD are studied in lattice simulations with the RG-improved gluon action and the clover-improved Wilson quark action. From the simulations on a 163 × 4 lattice , we extract the free energies, the effective running coupling geff(T ) and the Debye screening mass mD(T ) for various color channels of heavy quark−quark and quark−anti-qua...

Strong correlations in hot QCD

After reviewing briefly the basic strategy of analyzing the RHIC data, recent lattice results of the non-pertubative/strong-coupling aspects of quark-gluon plasma probed primarily by the heavy quarks are presented. In particular, free energies of static quarks in various color channels, the Debye screening mass and the spatial string tension above the pseudo-critical temperature are discussed o...

Thermodynamics and heavy-quark free energies at finite temperature and density with two flavors of improved Wilson quarks

Thermodynamics of two-flavor QCD at finite temperature and density is studied on a 163 ×4 lattice, using a renormalization group improved gauge action and the clover improved Wilson quark action. In the simulations along lines of constant mPS/mV, we calculate the Taylor expansion coefficients of the heavy-quark free energy with respect to the quark chemical potential (μq) up to the second order...

Static Potential and Local Color Fields in Unquenched Three-Dimensional Lattice QCD

String breaking by dynamical quarks in (2+1)-d lattice QCD is demonstrated in this project, by measuring the static potential and the local color-electric field strength between a heavy quark and antiquark pair at large separations. Simulations are done for unquenched SU(2) color with two flavors of staggered quarks. An improved gluon action is used which allows simulations to be done on coarse...

Heavy-heavy-light quark potential in SU(3) lattice QCD

We perform the first study for the heavy-heavy-light quark (QQq) potential in SU(3) quenched lattice QCD with the Coulomb gauge. The calculations are done with the standard gauge and O(a)-improved Wilson fermion action on the 16 lattice at β = 6.0. We calculate the energy of QQq systems as the function of the distance R between the two heavy quarks, and find that the QQq potential is well descr...
